Stoughton Neighborhood Briefly Loses Power After SUV Collides with Utility Pole
The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on July 17. There were no injuries.
An SUV collided with a utility pole on Morton St., causing power outages in a Stoughton neighborhood Tuesday morning.
There were no injuries in the single car accident, which occurred at 6:54 a.m. on July 17, according to the Stoughton Fire Department.
A car driving on Morton St. hit a pole, situated between the street's intersections with Plain St. and Columbus Ave.
The Stoughton Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene, as did utility crews.
"We were awakened by the "BOOM" of the power going out when the fuse on the pole blew and then moments later by the sirens of the Stoughton PD and FD responding," Jeff Weitzenkorn, who lives near where the crash took place, wrote in an email.
"Power was restored within about an hour and cable within about three hours," he said.

Close to home. People drive too fast on Morton and Plain Streets and routinely blow through the stop signs at the intersection. Glad the driver is ok but wondering what was the cause of the accident? The vehicle went right up on the sidewalk - very happy no pedestrians were hit.

I would like to see video cameras on the telephone poles on each corner of the intersection of Morton and Plain at Andy's Market and other bad intersections like Morton and Brock St. and the Red light runners on Porter St taking a right turn
entering Stoughton Center when the green light is for the traffic on rt 138...to snap pictures of people running the stop signs and the morons given tickets like they do down in Georgia with the speed traps. The Town could use the money!
What a wake up call that would be to get a ticket in the mail with a picture of the car and driver running the stop sign.
