Stoughton Home Sales Up in December, But Down in 2011

Stoughton saw an increase in December 2011 home sales, as compared to December 2010 sales, but sales for 2011 still fell short of sales in 2010.

 

There were slightly fewer homes sold in Stoughton in 2011 than in 2010, according to data released earlier this week.

The data, compiled by real estate information firm The Warren Group, showed 166 home sales in Stoughton in 2011, down from 171 in 2010.

But, December saw a significant increase in home sales in Stoughton, from three in December 2010 to 12 in December 2011.

Statewide, Massachusetts had the lowest number of homes sold since 1990, with 38,994, down from 41,389 in 2010.

Statewide home sales for the month of December also dropped, from 3,558 in December 2010 to 3,380 in December 2011.

Here are the home sales numbers for area towns:

  • Dover had its home sales fall from 57 in 2010 to 40 in 2011, a 30 percent drop. For December, sales were up from four to five.
  • Easton's home sales were down 27 percent for 2011, from 170 to 124. December home sales were steady at 10.
  • Foxborough's home sales fell five percent, from 117 to 111, while December sales were even at 10.
  • Mansfield's home sales were up by nearly three percent (from 135 to 139), while December home sales fell by 30 percent (from 20 to 14).
  • Medfield's 2011 home sales were down, falling from 133 to 118. December sales declined from 11 to six.
  • Norfolk had its home sales in 2011 fall from 86 to 75, but December home sales were up from three to five.
  • Norton home sales increased by seven percent in 2011, from 121 to 130, and December sales went up from 13 to 17.
  • Norwood's home sales in 2011 were up three percent, from 168 to 172, while December sales went up sharply, from five to 15.
  • Plainville's 2011 home sales increased from 50 to 52, and December home sales were up from one to two.
  • Sharon had its home sales increase by just over 12 percent in 2011, from 163 in 2010 to 183 last year. December home sales were up 31 percent, from 13 to 17.
  • Wrentham home sales fell a bit in 2011, from 86 to 81, while December home sales were up from four to 9.
