In summing up the Stoughton High winter sports season, where do you start?
The Davenport Division champion boys' basketball team went 13-9 and took the number-one seed in the Division 2 South Sectional Tournament to the wire; the girls' basketball and boys' hockey teams each won Hockomock League sportsmanship awards; the cheerleading team is set to take part in the state championship meet this upcoming weekend; individual swimmers and wrestlers went up against the best in the state in individual postseason meets; and two track stars, Greg Boursiquot and Jade Paul, are set to make their mark at the national championship in New York this upcoming weekend.
There was certainly plenty to celebrate at the Stoughton High Winter Sports Awards ceremony, held Monday evening at the school.
Awards for team MVP, sportsmanship, scholar athlete and Hockomock League All-Star were were presented to 27 athletes in nine different sports.
Boys' basketball senior Kris Joyce was also honored for ending his career with 1,141 points, just the 12th player in school history (boy or girl) to reach the 1,000 point plateau. He was presented with his 1,000 point game ball, which had been marked to commemorate his career-point total.
See the lists below for all the award recipients. Be sure to check out video of each sport's award presentation in the media gallery above (boys' and girls' track are grouped together, as are boys' and girls' swim).
