Stoughton 12-Year-Olds Ready to "Play Ball" in Cooperstown

Stoughton's 12-year-old Cooperstown All Star Village baseball team is ready for a week of fun at the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. You can watch Stoughton's games live via webcam.

 

Eleven 12-year-olds from Stoughton, joined by three coaches, arrived in Cooperstown, NY, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, to take part in a week-long baseball tournament at the Cooperstown All Star Village.

Cooperstown All Star Village offers week-long baseball tournaments throughout the summer. Stoughton is one of 25 teams taking part in the sixth week of action.

Stoughton, the only team from Massachusetts this session (July 14-20), will be competing against teams from California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas and Canada.

Stoughton players include: Matt Gallagher, Cam Andrews, Craig Goodrich, Colin Goodrich, Jacob Sigel, Cam Doherty, James Tyer, Tim Kellogg, Alex Sjoquist, Dylan Daniels, and Mike Batte.

The team is coached by Jeremy Sigel, Mark Andrews and Scott Goodrich.

Stoughton already made its mark at the opening skills competition on Saturday, July 14, with Sjoquist coming in third in the base running event and Gallagher coming in third in the home run contest.

The double play team of  Andrews, Kellogg and Doherty came in 8th and the throwing relay team of Daniels, Andrews, Sigel, Kellogg, Batte, Tyer, Doherty, Sjoquist and Craig and Colin Goodrich came in 10th.

Stoughton (team #14) has the following schedule:

  • Sunday, July 15 - 11:30 a.m. on field 33 and 4:30 p.m. on field 34
  • Monday, July 16 - 11:30 a.m. on field 30 and 4:30 p.m. on field 35
  • Tuesday, July 17 - 2 p.m. on field 32 and 7 p.m. on field 32 (under the lights)

Playoffs start Wednesday, July 18.

"All the boys are having a great time and really get along well together and as a team," Coach Andrews wrote in an email. "We are representing the town of Stoughton and the only team from Massachusetts very well!"

Stoughton already won its first game, 12-4, on Sunday against the Diamond Kings of NJ! Cam Andrews had a home run for Stoughton in the win.
