Rotary Food Drive Benefits Stoughton and Sharon Families

The Ilse Marks Food Pantry in Stoughton will receive the non-perishables collected at Saturday's drive in Sharon.

Saturday morning, cans of vegetables, boxes of cereal, and bags of Doritos were brought near where visitors typically go to get books.

Stoughton and Sharon families will benefit from these food donations.

The Rotary Club of Sharon and the Interact Club at Sharon High School held this three-hour drive in the front of the Sharon Public Library on April 21.

The donations will go to the Ilse Marks Food Pantry, at 121 Seaver St. in Stoughton. The food pantry serves residents from both Stoughton and Sharon.

Sharon Rotarian Julie Shuffain said that the food pantry is in need of donations after being depleted by the Passover and Easter Holidays and by April vacation, where children were home from school.

The Sharon Rotarians plan to build a handicapped access ramp at the food pantry in May.

And, next Friday, April 27, the 7th Annual "Doin' It For Diane" Fundraiser will be held at the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton (21 Railroad Ave.).

This benefit raises money for both food pantries in Stoughton - the Ilse Marks Pantry and the St. Anthony's Free Market

Tickets are $20. There will be entertainment, raffles, a silent auction, a cash bar and a dessert buffet.
