* Less than two-seconds away from victory and a 3-0 start to the season, the Stoughton High boys' basketball team turned the ball over on an inbounds pass and Franklin hit a three-pointer at the buzzer in overtime to hand the Black Knights a heartbreaking 79-78 loss last Tuesday in Stoughton's home opener.

The team (2-1) looks to get back on the winning track this week with a holiday tournament in Holliston (Tuesday and Thursday).

* The girls' basketball team was unable to recover from a 24-4 first quarter deficit, losing to Franklin 69-30 on the road last Tuesday, dropping to 0-3 on the season. The team is off until 2011, when it hosts Oliver Ames on Jan. 7.

* After beating Middleboro in the season opener, the boys' hockey team (1-1) lost to Bishop Feehan last Wednesday 5-2.  The Black Knights took an early 2-1 lead, but Bishop Feehan scored the final four goals of the game to hand Stoughton their first loss of the young season.

The hockey team is back in action tomorrow night, 12/27 (weather pending) for a winter tournament in Dedham.

* The Stoughton High wrestling team picked up six individual match wins last Monday night against Sharon High, but lost a narrow decision 39-36.  A few days later on Thursday, the team lost to Mansfield 43-24 on the road.

The team travels to Quincy this Thursday (12/30) for a meet.
