Two-Alarm Fire at Canton Home

The cause of a two-alarm fire that ignited at a home on Chapman Street in Canton Tuesday night was the result of an accidental electrical issue, Canton Fire Chief Charles E. Doody said Wednesday.

The fire broke out around 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, and caused fire damage to a basement electrical room. The two occupants who own the home were displaced as a result of the fire, though there were no injuries, Doody said.

18-Wheeler Rolls Over on Route 24 On-Ramp in Stoughton

The male driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured when his 18-wheeler carrying stainless steel rolled over just before getting on Route 24 northbound in Stoughton Monday afternoon, August 27.

The 18-wheeler was coming from Stoughton, traveling on Route 139, and then got on the on-ramp to Route 24 north. The vehicle rolled over onto its side about 20-30 feet before the end of the on-ramp.

Bottle in Sharon Mailbox Deemed Explosive Device

A suspicious bottle that was discovered in a mailbox on Mountain Street in Sharon on Wednesday was determined to be a small explosive device, but one that did not activate, according to a statement from the Sharon Police Department.

Shooting Officer: I Thought DJ Henry's Car Would Stop

Pleasantville, NY Police Officer Aaron Hess was grilled in federal court this month as part of the ongoing lawsuits filed by multiple parties following the death of Pace University student and Easton native Danroy "DJ" Henry on Oct. 17, 2010 in Thornwood.

"I believed it was going to stop because every other vehicle I've asked to stop in my career has stopped," Hess told Michael Sussman, the attorney for Henry's parents, Angella and Danroy Sr. of Easton.

A Westchester County grand jury failed to indict Hess in the fatal shooting of the 20-year-old college student last year. The Henrys then filed a civil lawsuit, naming Hess and the Village of Pleasantville.

Kennedy Visits Attleboro

With a week remaining before the primary election, Democratic congressional candidate Joseph Kennedy III made two stops in Attleboro Thursday morning, August 30.

Kennedy will face Rachel Brown and Herb Robinson in the September 6 primary for the Democratic nomination for representative of the 4th Congressional District.
