Damage on Capen St.

While Irene might not have lived up to forecasted expectations, the tropical storm caused plenty of damage and left thousands in Stoughton without power.

Public Safety officials responded to dozens of calls. There were downed wires and fallen trees all over town.

Take a look at the photo gallery above for images from the storm and its aftermath. Special thanks to the readers who sent in storm photos.

Just overheard in supermarket checkout line. National Grid wants us to
go to their web site and keep up to date with the recovery process. HELLOOO! We don't have power for our computers.....

I got a robo-call from them at 10 o'clock last night (WAY too late for that sort of thing!). I was thinking that was kind of crazy advice for people without power, and probably dead cell phone batteries by now....

Photo 32 is my house, nothing excited happened here, no trees down, no power loss.

Photo 38 is my neighbor's house - thankfully, as far as I know, the power stayed on in the whole neighborhood!
