The Oasis Coalition is proud to announce that during the Safe Prom Event on Monday, February 13, 2012, 110 Safe Prom Contracts were signed.  Hopefully, this means that at least 110 conversations took place between seniors and their parents about alcohol and other drugs, and family expectations.  We would like to a give a big thanks to everyone who made this event possible, the SHS administration and faculty, local businesses, and the students and their parents.

A special thanks to OASIS coalition members for their hard work in planning and staffing this event, offering their expertise on the panel and for donating a pair of prom tickets as raffle items.

Also, thanks to everyone at Stoughton High School for advertising, hosting this event and donating tickets to the Prom.

We are especially grateful to the local businesses that made the Prom Fashion Show especially glamorous, including: Fairy Tales Formals for providing dresses and tuxes and raffling off a free prom dress or tuxedo rental; LA Express for the hair styling and raffling a $50 Beauty Bucks; Giovann Salon for the hair styling and raffling a generous $50 gift certificate; Mary Kay consultant and makeup artist Cindy Guarino for make up and raffling a Mary Kay brush set; Amy McCain for the sparkling jewelry and raffling a Handmade Jewelry set; and Stoughton Flowers for the beautiful corsages and boutonnieres.

More appreciation goes out to all who made the raffle possible and made some seniors very happy, including: Classic Limo for a $50 Gift Certificate; Roche Brothers for $50 gift card; Posh for the generous bracelet; Jessica’s at the Senior Center for a Valentine’s Cookie Arrangement; and the Party All Night Long Committee for donating a pair of tickets to their Party All Night Long Event.

Finally, we can't forget all the student participants in the fashion show who looked amazing and did a grand job.

This event was a success due to everyone who contributed with donations, effort and time. The OASIS Coalition hopes this continues to be an annual event in the future. The event provides a fun evening out, where seniors and their parents can easily get their prom contracts signed. Not only is it required for all students to have their contract signed in order to be purchase tickets to the senior prom, but it is another opportunity to have a discussion about making good decisions and being safe, not just on prom night, but every night.

Once again, we hope that all students have a safe and fun prom night!
