For the second year in a row, the OASIS Coalition is partnering with Stoughton High School to hold a Safe Prom Event on Monday, February 13, from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the SHS Cafeteria.
This event will include a fun fashion show where students will be modeling this season’s latest prom attire. Fairy Tales Formals will be providing dresses and tuxes for the show.
Along with the fashion show, there will be a vendor fair and many prom prizes will be raffled.
Those prizes include beauty services, transportation, flowers and more, donated from business all around town, such as: free prom tickets; $50 gift certificate to Classic Limo of New England; homemade jewelry by Amy McCain; $50 in Beauty Bucks to LA Express; $50 gift certificate to Giovann Salon; Corsage and Boutonniere from Stoughton Flower Shop; $50 gift card to Roche Brothers; a gift bag from Mary Kay; and a ticket to the Party All Night Long post graduation event.
Though this event is focused around fun, a primary goal of OASIS and Principal Matthew Colantonio is to ensure that all students attending the prom will be safe.
In order to do so, for the second year, SHS is requiring all seniors and their parents/guardians to sign a Safe Prom Contract, where signers agree not to attend or host any pre- or post-prom parties where there may be any alcohol or other substances available.
The students and parents/guardians will have the perfect opportunity to sign their prom contract during this Monday’s Safe Prom Event. A short educational panel, comprised of local experts, will also be speaking during the event.
In order to attend prom, students and their parents/guardians must sign this prom contract. It may not be taken home and brought back to school signed. If students and their parents/guardians cannot attend Monday’s Safe Prom Event, there will be designated signing mornings and afternoons set up at the high school.
The OASIS coalition and everyone at Stoughton High School hope that this event is successful, fun, and most importantly, that all students will be safe before, during and after prom.
