Illegal Immigrant Charged in Crash That Killed Stoughton Woman
The Boston Herald reports Auricelli Braga of Stoughton, an illegal immigrant from Brazil, was charged in Sunday's two car crash in Canton which killed Stoughton grandmother Sara Escudero.
Auricelli Braga, 32, of Stoughton, has been charged with motor-vehicle homicide for her role in a two-car crash in Canton Sunday morning which killed a Stoughton grandmother, the Boston Herald reports.
Braga, from Brazil, is not a legal resident, according to the Herald. She was also charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a license.
Sara Escudero, a 64-year-old Stoughton woman, died in the June 24 crash on Turnpike Street in Canton. She was on her way to work at the time.
Braga legally entered the U.S. in November 2001 with permission to remain in this country until May 2002. However, Braga never left the country and has been here the last 10 years, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official tells the Herald. She faces deportation.
Braga also sustained injuries in the Sunday morning crash and was transported to Boston Medical Center. Braga is being held on $250,000 bail, but if she posts bail she will be detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Herald reports.
