How Much Snow Will Stoughton Get on Saturday?
A second storm is headed to the area and could make driving hazardous on Saturday.
A second storm of the week is headed toward New England and will dump more snow onto the area on Saturday. Projected snowfall amounts continue to fluctuate, but most models have the Stoughton area receiving about a half-foot of snow, if not more.
7News meteorologists are predicting Stoughton to get as much as 7 to 10 inches of snow in the storm that is expected to start on Saturday afternoon and spread into the early hours of Sunday (Stoughton is near the boarder of the 7 to 10 inch pocket and 4 to 7 inch area).
Likewise, WBZ is predicting 6 to 10 inches.
Earlier on Friday, WCVB Channel 5 was looking at one model which had this area receiving upwards of a foot of snow, but is now projecting 4-8 inches (click here to see hour by hour details).
Stoughton, like much of the southeastern part of the state, is under a Winter Storm Warning through 7 a.m. on Sunday.
The good news is that snow removal shouldn’t be a backbreaking endeavour.
WBZ’s Todd Gutner said the snow will be “dry and fluffy for most,” though he warned that driving could be hazardous at times on Saturday.
The peak of the storm, according to WBZ, will be between 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday.

2" - 4" of snow in Stoughton will probably shut the town down for weeks. Residents will flock to Shaws & Stop and Shop for massive stocks of Bread and Milk. Panic will set in as residents navigate through the narrowed streets, slipping and sliding as they go. Schools will be shut down all of next as parents figure out what to do with their darlings.

Now 5" - 8" I guess that the Mayan's prediction for the end of the world will be 8 days late in Stoughton. What will become of all those stranded residents now that the amount has been increased? Will many survive this "massive" snowfall? Will their lives (those who survive) ever return to normal? Will there be looting in Stoughton Center (why??)? Will power be lost for weeks? Only time will tell.

You sound like a young whippersnapper who lets snow bother them. Back in my day, when I was a lad, I remember having to shovel the family drive, as well as elderly relatives who lived next door. We never had days off from school because of a "few" inches of snow. I had to walk to school 5 miles, up hill, each way. You young'uns don't know the hardship of winter storms, all too soft now. Heck, it was tough gathering the eggs every morning for breakfast, when nature called walking through 2' of snow to get to the privy and then sitting on it. Sometimes our water pump would freeze and we would have to melt snow on the wood stove for water. Times were we had no 'tricity so we had to entertain ourselves by candlelight. Once in a while Abe would join us to read by the fireplace. Driveway... just drive over it and pack the snow down, if you don't want to shovel. Its easier.

I am far from a young whippersnapper. When I was a kid I had a crazy father who made us shovel everything perfectly, even trails through the back yard. Yes, my father made us shovel grass. He also made me go next store and shovel for my aunt and her neighbor next to her so trust me when I say I have done my share of shoveling. Oh and how awful those 5 mile walks to school must have been for you. I didn't know they had school back in your day.

LT: Sticks & stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.
Maybe your father had you shovel grass (actually snow) so the grass area would be cleared earlier in the spring. Afterall, winter can be long. Yes, when I went to school we used scrolls, books weren't yet available. Now, I see schools are using something called an electronic book instead of real books. Poor kids will never have back problems from carrying all those heavy books. Life ain't fair.

* The finals of the Blue Devils Holiday Classic between the Stoughton High boys' basketball team and Hingham, originally scheduled for Saturday night, has been postponed until SUNDAY, 12/30 at 3:30 p.m. at Randolph High.
