Students in grades kindergarten, first, second and third at the South Elementary School in Stoughton took part in a "Vocabulary Parade" last Thursday, May 24.

The students made sandwich board posters with various vocabulary words on them and marched around the exterior of the school, with the fourth and fifth graders cheering on the younger students.

Kindergarteners and first graders had posters with sight words; second graders had posters with science words; and third graders had posters with math words.

The event was organized by the school's reading specialist, Joan Standring.

Following the parade, which gave students the chance to learn new words and strengthen their vocabulary, students took part in a book swap, which allowed each student, K-5, to take a book home to add to their home libraries.
