1. SHS Girls' Basketball State Tournament Action

The Stoughton High Black Knights girls’ basketball team (13-6) travels to Newton North (14-6) in a first round matchup in the MIAA Division 1 South Sectional Tournament.

The game starts at 7 p.m. For those traveling to the game, Newton North is located at 457 Walnut St. Newton, 02460.

Stoughton is the #9 seed, while Newton North is the #8 seed. For a full breakdown, click on the link:

2. Stoughton Business Collecting Food for Pantries - LAST DAY

Drop off any canned goods or non-perishable items at Malcolm & Parsons Insurance (770 Washington St. in the downtown) and they will match it during the months of December, January and February.

It will go directly to the Stoughton food banks to help those in need.

February 29 is the last day of the drive.

3. Stoughton Selectmen Seek Residents to Serve on Town Manager Screening Committee

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen is advertising for a citizens’ screening committee to help in the search for a new Town Manager.

The Board is looking for residents who can “assist in the process of screening, interviewing, and recommending qualified candidates for the Board’s consideration for the position of Town Manager.”

The deadline for letters of interest to serve on this committee is Wednesday, February 29.

4. Special Guest Readers at Library

As part of this week's Teddybear Storytime (geared for children ages 3.5 to 6), Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr., Fire Chief Mark Dolloff and Acting Police Chief Robert Devine are scheduled to read to the children. The event starts Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Stoughton Public Library.

  • 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Senior Serenader Choral Practice
  • 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. - Gentle Yoga

  • LUNCH (11:15 a.m.) - Roast Turkey

BONUS: SHS Cheerleading fundraiser at Five Guys

The Stoughton High Cheerleaders will be holding a fundraising event at the Cobb’s Corner Five Guys Burgers & Fries Wednesday evening, February 29 for their upcoming trip to Nationals in Orlando.

Between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. this evening, 10% of all sales at Five Guys will be donated to the squad. No flyer is needed.
