Five Things You Need to Know This Weekend: February 4-5

"Five Things you Need to Know This Weekend" is the weekend version of the Patch column "Five Things You Need to Know Today." The weekend edition provides readers with essential information for both Saturday and Sunday.

1. Get Your Oil Changed, Help the Stoughton Food Pantries

Every Saturday during the months of January and February, Windsor Tire and Island Street Auto will donate $10 to Doin' It For Diane for every oil changed performed.

You can also participate by making a monetary donation or dropping off any non-perishable food items to either location.

The Doin' It For Diane Stoughton Food Pantry Fundraiser is supported by the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce and Copy Inks.

2. Stoughton High Cheerleading Bottle and Can Drive

The following announcement is from STOYAC:

The Stoughton High School Cheerleaders have qualified for the National Cheerleading Championships being held in Florida.

To raise money for this very expensive trip the girls are having various fundraisers to secure the financing to attend Nationals.

This Saturday, February 4, the high school cheerleaders will be holding a bottle and can drive at the High School parking lot from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Help support these talented young ladies in their quest for the gold.

3. Stoughton Youth Baseball Breakfast

The annual Stoughton Youth Baseball Breakfast will be held at the Sons of Italy on Sunday, February 5 from 8:30–11 a.m.     

This will also be the last day for the spring registration so come on down, have some food and get registered. A late fee of $20 will be assessed to all that register after this date. 

4. STOYAC Softball Registration

Girls' 2012 STOYAC Softball Registration is being held Saturday, February 4 at Stoughton High from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. 

There will also be a registration session Tuesday, February 7 at the Police Station from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Cost is $80 per player with a $200 maximum per family. All registrations after February 7 will have a $10 late fee.

5. Week 8 STOYAC Travel Basketball Home Schedule

Stoughton will be hosting the following games on Sunday, February 5 at the O'Donnell Middle School gym:

  • 8:30 a.m. - 6th grade girls play Westwood
  • 9:50 a.m. - 6th grade boys play Newton
  • 11:10 a.m. - 4th grade boys play Foxboro
  • 12:30 p.m. - 7th grade girls play Medfield
  • 1:50 p.m. - 7th grade boys play Randolph
