Five Things You Need to Know This Weekend: February 11-12

Get Your Oil Changed, Help the Stoughton Food Pantries; Open House at the Stoughton YMCA; Little Theatre of Stoughton Presents Kimberly Akimbo; and more...

 

"Five Things you Need to Know This Weekend" is the weekend version of the Patch column "Five Things You Need to Know Today." The weekend edition provides readers with essential information for both Saturday and Sunday.

1. Get Your Oil Changed, Help the Stoughton Food Pantries

Every Saturday during the months of January and February, Windsor Tire and Island Street Auto will donate $10 to Doin' It For Diane for every oil changed performed.

You can also participate by making a monetary donation or dropping off any non-perishable food items to either location.

The Doin' It For Diane Stoughton Food Pantry Fundraiser is supported by the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce and Copy Inks.

2. Open House at the Stoughton YMCA

The Stoughton YMCA is holding an open house at their 445 Central Street campus on Saturday, February 11 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Check out family activities, family fitness, new equipment, pool fun, and take a tour of the facility.

3. Stoughton/Avon Pop Warner Youth Tackle Football & Cheerleading Registration

Registration for Fall 2012 season is on Saturday, February 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at both the Gibbons Elementary School gym and the Stoughton High School gym.

STOYAC is also seeking to possibly start an Unlimited Division in 2012 to help those who could not previously play because of weight restrictions take part in all of the benefits that football and a team sport provides.

4. Little Theatre of Stoughton Presents Kimberly Akimbo

Come see “Kimberly Akimbo,” the latest production from the Little Theatre of Stoughton.

The production will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 14 Seaver Street in Stoughton. Shows will be held February 11 at 7:30 p.m. and February 12 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $17 and can be purchased online at www.littletheatreofstoughton.org and at the door.

5. STOYAC Travel Basketball Schedule

Stoughton will be hosting the following STOYAC travel basketball games on Sunday February 12 at the O'Donnell Middle School gymAdmission is always free).

  • 8:30 a.m. - 5th grade boys take on Sudbury
  • 9:50 a.m. - 6th grade boys play Mansfield
  • 11:10 a.m. - 4th grade girls take on Abington
  • 12:30 p.m. - 7th grade boys play Medway
  • 1:50 p.m. - 8th grade boys take on Franklin
