Car Accident At Intersection Of Plain/Washington Streets Wed. Morning
Car accidents highlight Police Log this week.
There was a two-car accident at the intersection of Plain Street and Washington Street, Wednesday morning at 8:48 a.m., according to Executive Officer Robert Devine of the Stoughton Police Department.
Stoughton Police and Fire units responded to the accident, where a vehicle pulling out of Plain Street did not yield to a vehicle driving on Washington Street, getting "broadsided" in the process, according to Devine.
A citation was given to the operator of the vehicle pulling out of Plain Street for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The operators of both vehicles were transported to the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for precautionary reasons.
"Car accident central" on Monday
There were a total of 30 car accidents reported in Stoughton on Monday, all minor in nature. These accidents coincided with the first snowfall of the season, with most of the accidents taking place between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Devine said this is "unfortunately" a typical occurrence during a snowstorm. "Four-wheel drive is for steering, not stopping," advised Devine.
An additional eight motor vehicle accidents were reported Tuesday, and Devine said the ones that took place in the morning were still weather related, with the exception of an accident at 1:22 a.m. Tuesday morning, which was a case of O.U.I. (operating under the influence).
This accident resulted in the arrest of Sean Ramaci, 21, of Stoughton. He was charged with O.U.I. and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Arrest made at Selios Pizza House Tuesday
Stoughton Police arrested Derek Savage of Brockton just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night. Savage was arrested on a warrant served by the Wareham Police Department, which had requested assistance from Stoughton. Stoughton Police made the arrest because Savage was in Stoughton's jurisdiction, according to Devine.
Vandalism on Washington Street
Police investigated cases of vandalism (graffiti) Monday morning at Platinum Services (1378 Washington St.) and at nearby National Equipment Rental (1296 Washington St.). Devine said the department's juvenile officer is investigating these incidents and "has a couple of suspects."
