Canton Police Arrest Brothers in Dunkin' Donuts Robbery
Canton Police arrested two brothers Sunday morning alleged to have committed a rash of robberies at Dunkin' shops across the Bay State, including in Stoughton.
Canton Police arrested two brothers—Peter J. Wallace of Dorchester and Wayne M. Wallace of Quincy—early Sunday morning after being caught breaking into the Neponset Street Dunkin' Donuts in Canton.
The pair, who are suspected in a rash of Dunkin' Donuts burglaries around the Bay State, including in Stoughton, allegedly used a crow bar to pry open the drive through window, Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz told Patch Monday.
The Wallaces, who were wearing homemade masks during the break-in, sped off when Canton Police arrived on scene after the burglar alarm went off at 12:18 a.m. Sunday, Berkowitz said. The Dunkin' shop was closed at the time of the robbery, he said.
Canton Police Officers Chuck Rae, Brian Ronayne, Steve Saraf and Bob Schnieders made the arrests after chasing the suspects onto I-95, and pulling them over on I-93, the police chief said.
The pair got away with a "small amount of money," Berkowitz said. They are suspected in the August robbery of the same Dunkin' Donuts at 600 Neponset Street, he said. In that case, the robbers also used a crow bar to pry open the drive-through window, he noted.
The Wallaces are suspected in 30 Dunkin' Donuts robberies across the state, including ones in Stoughton, Braintree, Milton, Boston, Wellesley and Randolph, Chief Berkowitz said.
Peter J. Wallace, 37, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with breaking and entering into a building at nighttime, a felony; larceny over $250; possessing a burglarious instrument; and malicious destruction of property over $250.
Wayne M. Wallace, 33, of Quincy was arrested and charged with breaking and entering at nighttime, a felony; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; failing to stop for police; larceny over $250; possession of a burglarious instrument; malicious destruction of property over $250; and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Both have extensive records, including breaking and entering, drug charges and assaults, according to Berkowitz.
The brothers were scheduled to be arraigned in Stoughton District Court on Monday.
