Afternoon Edition: Banner Day for STOYAC Basketball Teams

STOYAC CROWNS CHAMPIONS: The annual STOYAC "CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY" was held in the gym on March 19 and the place was packed to see the teams compete for the coveted STOYAC basketball divisional championships.

The morning started with the Peewee Boys division. Both teams battled back and forth and at the end of regulation time the score was 32-32 requiring an overtime period.  When the final buzzer sounded the B & D Automotive team captured the victory by defeating Tri County Pediatrics by a score of 36-34.

Championship trophies were presented to the players by Bruce Dolinsky, Peewee Coordinator.  Recipients of the championship award were: Kevin Dixon, Dave Doherty, Anthony Pizzano, Johnny Willy, Kyle Stone, Jacob Kaplan, Jack Baker, Brendan Buckley, and Jack Dufrense, along with coaches Ben Decelle, Dan Doherty, and Kevin McDonald

The finalist awards were presented to: David Bell, L.J. Ferrandiz, Thomas Jasmin, Robert Greene. Bobby Genereaux, Tony Marco, Saion Vaughn-Gainey, Chris Smith, and Evan Jackman, along with coaches Adam Leonard, Imani Pina and Jack D'Addieco.  

The Peewee Girls division crowned the Malcolm & Parsons Insurance team with the championship after they won their game by a score of 32-16.  Receiving the championship trophy was: Sadie Homer, Jada Sheedy-Remy, Olivia O'Neil, Alexia Baptista, Demetra Cariofiles, Allison Coppinger, Kaelyn Desmond and Jenna Goldberg, along with coaches Michael and Nicholas O'Neil. (Mike O'Neil was recently at Stoughton High).

The finalist award was presented to the Town Spa Pizza team, consisting of:Brianna Ferrandiz, Jeanna Girolmo, Rebecca Roos, Shannon Petrie, Lindsay McDonald, Sarah Doherty,Haley Apotheker, Veronica Noe, and Casey Gagnon, along with coach Dave McDonald.  

The Junior Girls championship game was also a nail biter as the Extra Space Storage team captured the win as they beat the Kid Dental Care by a score of 22-20.  Receiving the championship trophies, which were presented by coordinator Mike McGrath and STOYAC President Bob Evangelista, were: Gianna DeNapoli, Adaora Ekpunkobi, Kaylee Ferreira, Emma Foley, Victoria Lemasa, Krista Michienzi, Jordan Motley, and Alex Soto, along with their coach Stacy Soto.

The finalist awards went to: Deanna Agresti, Kelly Corrigan, Meghan Foley, Sydney Gillis, Kelli Joyce, Matison Kramer, Samantha Roane, Val Whalen, and their coaches Barbara Corrigan and Joyce Foley.  

In the Junior Boys division the championship went to the team sponsored by Windsor Tire as they beat the Extra Space Storage team 41-30.  The championship trophies, presented by Junior Boys coordinator Matt Woodard and STOYAC president Bob Evangelista, went to Izon Swain-Price, Cameron Bean, Alex Cohen, Jon Gibson, Tim Kellogg, Jon Medina, Andrew Fantucchio, Anthony Homsey, and Jared Maher, along with coaches Ken Bean and Gary Cohen.

The finalist awards were presented to: Zach Gay, Justin Kelleher, Chris Beglane, Patrick Corrigan, Dan Longure, Justin Hutchinson, Eric Arico, Ryan Sullivan, and Derek Harris, along with coaches Rich Arico and Paul Sullivan.  

The Senior Girls division championship was won by the Roche Brothers team, as they squeaked by the New England Drain team by a score of 29-26. The championship trophies, presented by the Senior Girls coordinator Michele Varney, went to Tayla Varney, Sam Rappoli, Emily Quatrucci, Lattia Smith, Kaylie McKay, Payton Pizzano, and Lauren Johnson, along with coaches Tony Smith and Mike McKay

The finalist awards went to Yami Ponce de Leon, Tanya Stanley, Courney Campbell, Amanda Carlow, Sarah Federico, Michaela Sullivan, Shannel Ford, and Jessica Greer, along with coach Chuck Sullivan.  

In the Senior Boys division, spectators saw another close game as the Randolph Chrysler-Jeep team just got by the 138 Equipment Rental team by a score of 38-33.  Championship trophies, presented by Sean Sears, Senior Boys coordinator, went to Dennis Rebello, Tyler Cohen, Robbie Weir, Dan Leonard, Jake Swartz, Jordan Elkary, Dominic Ford, Kyle Brennan, and coaches Greg Swartz and Bob Weir

The finalist awards were given to Max Zoolek, Chickozie Ikoro, Isaac Connolly, Luke Butera, Cole Salem, Jimmy McDonald, Matt Anastasi and Tyler Getchell, as well as coach Len Anastasi.  

The Graduate division game was won by the Blue team who received their championship trophies from Jim Marchione, after defeating the Maroon team by a score of 50 to 33.  The championship team was comprised of Mitchell Jacobs, Brian Ziegler, Josh Levinson, Brandon Johnson, Paul Karamanian, Ross Andler, Michael Carter, Aaron Policow, and Charles Morrill, as well as coach Adam Levinson. A special thanks to Lenny Jacobs, who stepped in to coach the team in the finals as Adam was out of town.

The finalist awards went to Corey Asztalos, Marc Pierre-Louis, Luc Jean Pierre-Louis, Dan Grasso, Lance Beardsworth, Dan Eckler, Joey Areniello, Jason Nanni and Alex Petropoulos, along with coaches Jay DiStephano and Dan Quintero.
