ABOUT TOWN: Stoughton Connection to "Banshee" Premiere on Cinemax

Welcome to "About Town with Mark Snyder," a column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what's going on around town. If you see or hear something we could use here, let us know by sending an e-mail to pmpco@aol.com.

STOUGHTON CONNECTION ON CINEMAX! This Friday, January 11 at 10 p.m. is the premiere of the new series "Banshee" on Cinemax.

The pilot episode is directed by Greg Yaitanes, the son of realtor Fred Yaitanes of the Fred & Nadine Team (and a member of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.) Greg is also the executive producer of this new series.

In addition, Greg's brother Jason's company, "Tin Punch Media," did the opening sequence and credits for the series! As Jason said Thursday to Fred, "The entire hour will be done by your sons, Pop."

According to the Cinemax website, "Banshee' stars Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he continues his criminal activities, even as he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier."

Greg Yaitanes won an Emmy as Best Director in 2008 for one of his 30 episodes of the Fox TV hit, "House."

Here is the trailer for the new show on Cinemax: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vMPOqzYLwk.

Fred Yaitanes is the son of the late Charlie Yaitanes, a long-time Selectman for the Town of Stoughton, who is memorialized in the upstairs meeting room at Town Hall, which is named for him, and features a painting of him, as well.

Greg and his brother Jason were not raised in Stoughton, but we're still proud of them - they DO have Stoughton blood running through them!

If you miss the premiere of "Banshee," it will be shown again on Cinemax at 11:05 p.m. on Friday; Saturday at 12:10 a.m. and 9 p.m.; and Sunday at 12:10 a.m., 12 p.m., 8 p.m., and 11 p.m.
