ABOUT TOWN: Looking Ahead to Holiday Fairs; Deal For Vets (And More...)

Welcome to "About Town with Mark Snyder," a column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what's going on around town. If you see or hear something we could use here, let us know by sending an e-mail to pmpco@aol.com.

HOLIDAY FAIRS

* First Parish Universalist Church (790 Washington St., Stoughton Center): The First Parish Annual Holiday Fair will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be a food table, cookies by the tin, a gift shop, plants, raffles, arts and crafts, a white elephant sale, and more. There will also be a silent auction on Saturday.

* First Congregational Church of Stoughton (76 Pierce St., across from CAPP Playground): The church will present a Holiday Fair on Friday, Nov. 11 (4-8 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 12 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Come out to their annual Holiday Fair, where there is always something for everyone to enjoy!  Browse their attic treasures, hand knits, Christmas items, books and DVDs, jewelry and accessories, candy and baked goods.

The Fair features a snack bar and you can try your luck with their many raffles!  Prizes include a Nook color eReader, gift certificates to local merchants, and much more!  Contact the church office for more information at (781) 344-2371 or email them at office@uccstoughton.org.

CARE TO WALK OR HIKE?  A Walking Club is being organized at First Parish Universalist Church in Stoughton. Bill Sevrens invites all interested persons to join him for a hike, after church on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Pack a lunch. Put it in the refrigerator in the church kitchen. Then, after coffee hour, everyone will set out for Borderland State Park, or some such place, for an energetic hike.

Mark,
Are there any holiday fairs at the local churches in December? We are moving and I would like to donate some household items.
