ABOUT TOWN: Charlie Large Update; Christmas Parade (And More…)

Welcome to "About Town with Mark Snyder," a column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what's going on around town. If you see or hear something we could use here, let us know by sending an e-mail to pmpco@aol.com.

CHARLIE LARGE MOVES TO NORWOOD: Stoughton WWII hero, and the man whom this year's Veteran's Day ceremony was dedicated to, Charlie Large, has been moved to Charlwell House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood.

Large was previously at Copley at Stoughton, where many Stoughton residents, including Selectman John Anderson, Police Chief Paul Shastany, Veterans Agent Mike Pazyra and his wife Cindy, and Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr. were visitors.

Since he was down the hall from my mom, I got to see him every day.

You can now write him, or visit him at: Charlwell House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 305 Walpole Street, Room 22B, Norwood, MA 02062.

The Gazebo at Faxon Veterans Memorial Park is the Charles Large Gazebo. So, part of him is still in Stoughton.

He'd like to hear from his friends.  If you're around Norwood, stop by.  Or, send him a note!

THE CHRISTMAS PARADE! The Stoughton Community Event Committee's Annual Christmas Parade is Sunday, Dec. 11, starting at 2 p.m. The parade will start at Stoughton High, go to Pearl Street, then to Washington Street, through Stoughton Square to Park Street, and end up at the Faxon Veterans Memorial Park, across from Stoughton Public Library.

There's a Patch connection to this year's parade. I’m happy to be the emcee of the parade again this year.  Come say hello at the Reviewing Stand in front of the former Pacheco's Hardware building.

If the weather cooperates, we’ll play a little trivia before the parade, with some great prizes.

Want to enter a float in the Parade? Call Chair Joe Mokrisky at 781-344-8887.

See you there!  Bring the kids to meet Santa after the parade!
