ABOUT TOWN: Big Top Coming to Stoughton? Looking for a Job? (And More...)

THEATRE UNDER THE BIG TOP: The Little Theatre of Stoughton is doing something a little different this summer. As part of their 55th season, the production of "Snow White: The Musical" will take place in the great outdoors on August 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26th at the Cedar Hill Golf Course on Park St. under the Big Top!

The play features songs from your favorite Broadway musicals, including Aida, The Little Mermaid, Footloose and many more. It's an adult show that you can bring your children to, as well. It's adapted from the original Grimm Fairytale by Sarah Flanagan, Kellie McGrath, and Jeanette Champagne.

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Admission is $15, with discount tickets for students, and seniors priced at $12.

LOOKING FOR A JOB?  The Town of Stoughton is hiring!

They are looking for a cashier/receptionist at the Council on Aging. The person will be responsible for greeting people, answering phones, and providing resources to the public. The person hired will also be responsible for handling all monetary transactions for the COA.  Position will assist the Council on Aging Director with administrative assistance, as needed.

The Town is also looking for a Principal Clerk for the Town Clerk's Office.  Work includes issuing various licenses and permits, registering voters, participating in the election process, assisting in the maintenance of vital records, maintaining and updating files, and performing a variety of clerical and support responsibilities as assigned. Successful candidate will have a working knowledge of State and Federal Laws, and applicable Town bylaws. Working knowledge of office principles and practices, word processing, and spread sheets used by the department. Must have ability to learn and use Central Voter Registry (the State database).

Both jobs pay $32,570.72.  Detailed job descriptions may be obtained at the Office of Interim Town Manager Joseph D. Feaster, Jr., Town Hall, 10 Pearl Street, Stoughton, or on the Town of Stoughton website at www.stoughton-ma.gov under Town Manager/Job Postings.

POP WARNER FOOTBALL & CHEERLEADING HAS BEGUN!  Practice started on August 1, and is held weekdays from 5-7 p.m. at the Hansen School field (1800 Central Street).

There is still some roster space in all five age categories. Football from age 7-14, from 45 lbs. to 200 lbs. There's a team for YOU!

STOYAC provides equipment and uniforms. Come on down to practice and check it out. No experience necessary.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: to Lori Gaynor Bates, a Physical Therapist, and the wife of Stephen Bates, owner of Bates Remodeling, and a member of the Stoughton Media Access Corporation Board of Directors; to Michael Batte of Stoughton.  He and his wife Carolyn have the same anniversary as my wife and I, May 14; and, Happy Birthday to Mark Skala, a publisher for WickedLocal.com and Gatehouse Media. He's a divorced dad of a teenager. And, finally, one of Boston's most popular meteorologists - Dylan Dreyer of WHDH-TV.  She's a native of Manalapan, New Jersey.  They all celebrate their birthday on August 2.
