1. Board of Selectmen Meeting
The Stoughton Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall (third floor, Great Hall).
The meeting starts in executive session to discuss collective bargaining. When the meeting reconvenes in open session (open to the public), there will be a swearing in ceremony for Michael Hartman, Stoughton's new Town Manager.
Hartman, who started Dec. 17, was officially sworn in by Town Clerk Cheryl Mooney Dec. 21, but will be sworn in again ceremonially before a public audience.
Selectmen will also start reviewing the FY14 budgets for each town department. This is the first of three consecutive nights the Board is scheduled to meet to go over next fiscal year's budget.
FY14 Department Budget Reviews scheduled for this evening: Board of Health; Veterans; Accounting & Insurance; Town Clerk; Treasurer/Collector; Public Health; Youth Commission / Council on Aging; Planning; DPW, Sewer, Water.
The Board is also scheduled to meet Jan. 9 and Jan 10. starting at 6:30 p.m.

2. School Committee Meeting
The Stoughton School Committee meets in the TV studio at Stoughton High at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

3. Stoughton High Sports on Tap
The Stoughton High boys' and girls' basketball teams are in action Tuesday evening, Jan. 8. The boys' host to Foxborough at the SHS gym, while the girls' travel to Foxborough. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
The Stoughton High swim team is also in action, with a meet against Oliver Ames at Massasoit in Brockton at 4 p.m.
And, the Stoughton High indoor track team faces Oliver Ames Tuesday in a meet held at Boston University starting at 4:30 p.m.
4. Bingo at the Senior Center
The Senior Center will hold its weekly game of BINGO at 12:45 p.m.
5. Reminder: Thursday is Food Pantry Day in Stoughton
Stoughton resident Peg Carbone continues her effort to curb hunger in Stoughton, personally picking up donations for the food pantries every Thursday.
Here's a note from Peg: "I pick up non perishable food and also household items every Thursday, anywhere in Stoughton and deliver them to the food pantry. Please tell your friends and neighbors. One item, one bag or several, and I will pick them up every Thursday."
