1. Stoughton's Town Hall Roof Project Update

Parking in the front of and on either side of has been temporarily prohibited as crews continue work on the historic building's roof.

The historic building's asphalt roof is being replaced with a more durable slate surface.

Town employees will continue to park in the lot in the rear of the building (off Rose Street) and the municipal lot next to the Stoughton Police Station on Rose Street.

More street parking will have to be utilized in the meantime for visitors.

Patrons are being asked to enter the building from the rear (the basement), with signs inside directing visitors to the stairwells and elevator.

As the roof is being repaired, residents are reminded not to enter the work area at anytime. There will also be no access to the drop box during construction, so bills should be mailed to the Town Hall or may be paid in person.

The roof repair will be ongoing until October.

2. Little Theatre of Stoughton Presents Snow White

Performances of the Little Theatre of Stoughton's production of "Snow White: The Musical" will be held this weekend - August 24, 25 and 26.

The play will take place at the on Park St.

The play features songs from Broadway musicals, including Aida, The Little Mermaid, Footloose and many more. This family-friendly show is adapted from the original Grimm Fairytale.

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Admission is $15, with discount tickets for students, and seniors priced at $12.

3. Looking Ahead: Teen Drivers to Get Crash Course on Distracted Driving Next Week

Teenage drivers will get a first-hand look at just how dangerous it is to text and drive, when The Arbella Insurance Foundation Distractology 101 tour rolls into Stoughton.

Hardy Insurance Agency will be bringing the state-of-the-art tour to Stoughton during the week of August 27-31.

Distractology 101 is an interactive program developed by the Arbella Insurance Foundation to teach new drivers the dangers of distracted driving. The campaign features a 36-foot-long, neon-yellow mobile classroom outfitted with high-tech driving simulators designed to give new drivers the chance to experience the perils of distracted driving, including texting while driving.

The mobile classroom will be set up at Hardy Insurance Agency, located at 31 Tosca Drive in Stoughton. The tour will be available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday - Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday.

4. Tryouts for Stoughton's Middle School Hockey Team

The last tryout for Stoughton's Middle School Hockey Team will be 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. on August 27 at the Asiaf Rink at Brockton High School.

Tryouts are open to all Stoughton middle school students entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grade in September. No positions are guaranteed to returning players. There is no charge for tryouts.

The cost for the season is $675. Three equal payments of $225 are due September 1st, October 1st and November 1st.
