Stoughton Student Helps the Hungry Enjoy Thanksgiving

Charles Morrill of Stoughton, a senior at Boston College High School, helped Boston Housing Authority employees feed families in need this past Thanksgiving.

Morrill is a member of “The Model of Leadersip” class at the school which started a school-wide two-week food and money drive in early November.

On November 19 the young men held a collection ceremony in the BC High gym where all the money and food were gathered from the various homerooms.

Morrill with the Models of Leadership class then went to the Boston Housing Authority and helped sort the food and learned about the BHA and section 8 housing.  The BHA employees and the 17 BC High students were the sole providers in feeding more than 300 families.

Good for Charles, but seriously, it doesn't take much to get into the paper these days and accolades for doing the right thing or is there just an over zealous parent behind the scenes?

This is a local paper and it is nice to hear these stories. I would rather read 100 stories like this then another story about the most recent drug bust in town.

Hi DJ, thanks for your comments. Neither Charles's mother and dad nor Charles himself knew that I was going to submit the piece.I do the press releases for BCH
and thought I would contribute a bit of positive news about a Stoughton lad doing the right thing. If you ever got your name in the papers for something good you did, do
you remember how thrilled you felt. I hope it spurs him on to do even more.
In fact the class he is in "Models of Leadership" does much more than hand out turkeys to the poor. Getting clean drinking water into a small village in Nicaragua, raising money for Jesuit school kids in NJ and NY ravaged by Sandy, feeding the hungry on Boston Common, to name a few of their projects.
At BCH we train young men to be men for others, to help out wherever they can,
so I am sure you will see more releases from me about the good work the 12 Randolph boys do at BCH. Bill Burke

What a great article ! Kudos to Charlie for doing for others. It is great for teenagers to be involved in community service and working with others who need help and support. My son has known Charlie for many years and he is an awesome kid!
